Last half term was filled with lots of exciting things – including making fruity pancakes to celebrate Pancake Day. They were delicious and we loved making them, as you can see!
Our topic for this half term is ‘Growing and Changing’. We are learning all about Spring, in particular looking at how plants grow and what they need to keep them alive. We are also learning about the lifecycles of different animals, including chicks, frogs and people!
To bring this topic to life, we visited Stockley Farm Park for some wonderful hands-on experiences. We had the chance to do lots of fantastic things, including feeding lambs and goats, visiting the Polytunnel to see what was growing there, going on a nature trail and taking a ride on the tractor to look at seasonal changes in the environment. Watch out for pictures of our trip soon!
Look at us on Bikeability Day! It involved games carried out on balance bikes (bikes without pedals) to develop handling and awareness. We learnt to identify parts of a balance bike, get on and off comfortably, set off with control, push and glide, stop with control and make our bikes go where we want them to. We had such a fun day – take a look at some of our pictures...
Don’t forget that our home-school books can also be used as scrap books to record any special moments, events, trips, discoveries etc which your child would like to share with us.
Reading books will continue to be sent home each week. Please keep reading with your child – it really beneficial. Remember, too, to keep reading the high frequency words - we’re seeing lots of progress with these!
STAY AND PLAY
This half term's Stay and Play sessions will take place on 26, 27 and 29 March. We would love for a family member to come and spend an hour in class to see what fun activities we do in Reception.
